Hand dyed in the mountains, outside in the sunshine with a full heart and blue hands. Natural indigo creates a uniquely rich, expansive and subtle blue. Through multiple dips and long soaks the shades of indigo are revealed.

Natural Indigo is a vat dye and behaves differently from synthetic dyes. Slight crocking is to be expected, which means to prevent dye transfer you will want to soak your indigo product overnight in a basin with a mild soap (such as Fibre Wash) and rinse in the morning. See more about natural Indigo in the FAQ section.

This Eco WashMerino Yarn is made up of two strands of organic wool singles, this is a premier heavy fingering weight yarn. It can be used in knitting machines, for hand knitting, or in weaving as warp or weft. It has beautiful drape and anti shrink properties.

One skein will make a medium sized scarf or shawl. It works beautiful with other commercial yarns of the same weight or with hand spun yarns.

This yarn is mill spun from 100% non - chlorinated, anti shrink wool tops and has the following unique characteristics:

  • Environmentally friendly, using the principle of “Best Business Practice”
  • Totally new
  • Softer Touch compared with conventional treatments
  • Brilliant White, superior colour compared with conventional treatments
  • Superior Nepp Characteristics
  • Technical Fibre
  • Odour Free
  • Anti-Shrink to TM31 Standards
  • Produced in Europe
  • IMO/GOTS Certified

This is 100% Eco Wash Wool treated with enzymes to decrease the chances of felting. I still recommend hand washing gently with Eucalan of Unicorn Fibre Wash and Rinse, however you can put eco wash wool in your washing machine (at your own risk) on the gentle cycle using a wool appropriate soap. See the Woolly Washing section of my shop for these products.

Please see the Crafty Yarn Council Website to understand how the weight of this yarn has been classified.
